The debut album Lineage, by Scottish multidisciplinary artist CAIN, has now been released through Fine Grains Records. This marks a significant milestone in CAIN’s musical journey, as his first full-length project is now available to listeners worldwide. The release has garnered growing interest from fans and critics alike.
A bold and deeply personal sound has been crafted throughout Lineage. Celtic folk traditions have been blended with modern electronic production to create something truly unique. The album begins with The Highlands, a track that features flute melodies performed by James Mackenzie, a musician from the Isle of Lewis and a longtime friend of CAIN. The tones of Brìghde Chaimbeul’s Highland small pipes have also been included and transformed into rave-inspired stabs that drive the track forward.
About The New Release — Throughout the album, a wide range of sonic textures can be heard. From shimmering synths in Forged From the Bagpipes to the ancestral echoes of Ruthven, each track offers a distinct experience. Cholla combines ethereal pipes with breakbeats, while Flame of Wrath explores darker moods using Middle Eastern flutes and acid-tinged synths. Galan lifts the listener into a celestial space with angelic vocals, and both Kin and the title track explore intricate rhythms and layered percussion.

The album concludes with The Song of the Seal, which serves as a haunting and emotional finale. This closing track captures the spirit of the entire record, offering a sense of reflection and depth. The emotional range of the album has been carefully shaped to guide listeners through a journey of sound and feeling.
