Folk-pop duo Faultlines has released the their powerful new single, "Freedom," a stirring anthem that captures the frustration and urgency of our times, available now on Archodia Music and all streaming services.

Originally written in 2020, the song is released during another election year, with the United States on the battlefront of two separate global conflicts and the Supreme Court stripping away 50 years of legal precedents. Faultlines have taken to their microphone to get political.

“It was the height of national hysteria when Jared Mitchell and I sat down to write ‘Freedom’ during the 2020 lockdown. The song sat a few years collecting dust in the Faultlines’ demo pile, waiting for the right moment to record,” says John Flanagan. Ashley Morgan adds, "It was after the devastating shooting at a Nashville elementary school in 2023 that I watched with frustration as two Tennessee Representatives were expelled for their participation in a peaceful protest against gun violence. Listening to the demo again, it was clear this is a message that needs to be heard."

The song was written by John Flanagan and Jared Mitchell and produced by David Kidd, and features guitar by David Kidd and Accordion by Andrew Van Vlear.

Protest song and vocal harmony, Faultlines are an emissary of acoustic folk/pop artists from the 1960’s and 70’s. The band is fronted by members Ashley Morgan and John Flanagan, each bringing their collective years of experience from touring, songwriting, and backing up major label artists (Leona Lewis, Olivia Rorigo, Shania Twain) to the table.

Faultlines brings their signature harmonies to audiences across the country, ranging from festival stages and house concerts to the inmates of Folsom Prison. Over the years, Faultlines has opened for Christina Perry & Easton Corbin and performed for David Foster and Barbra Streisand. The Los Angeles-based band, Faultlines, believes that if you want to change someone’s mind, you’ve got to get inside their head. “And what better way to do that than with a song?” asks writer, John Flanagan.
